Health Care Working Group Meeting Notes

The Health Care Working Group has had its initial meeting and submitted the following meeting notes from their brainstorming session:

1. Public-facing entertainment in Hospitals
1. Information: 
1. UVRMC already has been awarded a Google fiber contract 
2. Public waiting areas would have access to faster bandwidth 
3. With Chromecasts, patients in hospital rooms would have access to a wider array of entertainment. 
2. Advantages: 
1. Low cost
2. Momentum already exists
3. Challenges: 
1. Financial support to purchase necessary infrastructure.
 
2. Tele-health 
1. Information: 
1. Provide after-hours medical support 
2. Provide access to specialists with increased convenience 
3. Potential test-group with BYU students 
4. UVRMC internal test had a poor response 
1. Bandwidth was an issue 
2. Potentially not a key market 
2. Advantages:
1. Investment and interest already exists 
2. Significant gains for healthcare consumers 
3. Challenges: 
1. Significant additional investment required to make a functional product.
3. Consumer Health Portal 
1. Information: 
1. A web portal with access to the following: 
1. Physician ratings 
2. Waiting times for urgent care, specialists, etc. 
3. Scheduling 
4. Healthcare information center
5. Medical records
2. Advantages: 
1. Significant benefit to healthcare consumers 
2. Google already provides a rating system for nearly every establishment via google maps. 
3. Electronic medical records increases customer accessibility 
4. Smaller and not-for-profit healthcare providers can have access to comprehensive medical records and abandon physical records.
3. Challenges: 
1. Gaining enough momentum around a single platform 
2. Time and resource investment in creating the product
